I would like to purchase a property in the UK for £200k paying a deposit of circa £80k and the rest on mortgage. I work in Moscow at British International school as a Maths teacher. I intend to return to UK to live and work in the near future. I'm paid in Euros into the Bank of Cyprus in Euros which are then paid into Barclays bank in GBP. Where can I get a mortgage?
I am pleased to say that you should not have too much difficulty finding a mortgage, because your profile fits several of the Offshore lending arms of the major UK banks.
Lloyds will not be able to help you because they are looking for you to be working for a multi national company, but the likes of NatWest, RBS and Barclays have indicated a willingness to consider an application subject to individual underwriting.
I recommend that you speak to an independent mortgage adviser with experience of the International Mortgage Market.
Jimmy has responded:
Try Bank of Cyprus UK. They should have no problem as you are a customer of Bank of Cyprus in Moscow
