Would a default and some poor credit from 8 years ago, stop us from getting a mortgage?

My partner has one satisfied default less than £600 and some poor credit history 8 years ago. What mortgage do you recommend? We have £80000 and wish to get a £476k mortgage and we have a joint income of £150,000?

Jacque,

I'd really need to see your partner's credit file before I could say anything too definitive, though poor credit from 8 years ago shouldn't cause too much of an issue, as this is very historic. However at the higher Loan To Values(LTV's) the credit scores of the major lenders are much tougher to get through.

All in all, I'd be very disappointed if this old adverse credit should still cause you any problems. If you'd like to have a chat with one of our consultants, about your options, then please let me know and I'll organise a convenient time for you to talk to one.

Regards,

Alistair
