Will my age stop me from getting a mortgage?

Posted on 24 February 2013 by Christine

I'm 61 years old. Can I get a mortgage for my property £32,000?

Christine,

The simple answer is that your age on its own certainly won't proculde you from getting a mortgage. The factors that will influence lenders are things like your income, how long you want the mortgage for, and the value of the property.

I wasn't sure if the mortgage you want is £32,000 or if that is the value of your home? If it is the value of your property then a number of lenders will be ruled out as it would be below their minimum property value. If not then it's certainly something worth exploring.

If you'd like to talk your enquiry through in more detail, then please let me know and I'll arrange a convenient time for you to speak to one of our consultants.
