Will mum's age stop us getting a Buy To Let mortgage?

Posted on 16 January 2013 by Antony

Can we get a mortgage for interest only on a buy to let, the house is in 3 names me my sister and mum. The house is worth £140000 and we only need £35000. The only problem is my mom is 76. We have somebody ready to rent the house.

Antony,

Although on a Buy To Let mortgage, the main focus is on the rental income that will be generated, for some lenders your mothers age will be an issue, and will restict the term of the loan. However as John Charcol is an Independent, Whole of Market broker, we have excellent relationships with lenders where age is not such a concern.
