Hi, I have a joint mortgage with my ex which is soon to be signed over to him as we have agreed on a price for him to pay me out. But he is re mortgaging does he have to do this or could he have just simply got same mortgage in his name? He has told me that he is paying me out with his savings and not doing it for the equity but why else would he be doing it this way?
There are many reasons why your ex might be remortgaging and without knowing his personal circumstances I can only assume it is either because your current lender is not happy that he can afford the existing mortgage on his own or that he has found that he can get a cheaper rate elsewhere.
If you have any suspicions that it might be for other reasons you should discuss these with your solicitor.
