What are my mortgage options?

Posted on 2 February 2011 by Wynford Williams

I am 61 this year, my partner is 31 this year.  I have a pension that gives me £1100 a month after tax and a business that turns over £1000 per month.  My partner has a monthly salary of £2000 after tax.  What are the options as regards a mortgage please?

Wyn,

Whilst this is a very simple question it is not one I can easily answer. Before I can advise you on what would be available I would need to know a lot more personal information and more information about your business.

Depending on what you are looking to achieve, there is every reason to believe that you would be able to get a mortgage and I recommend that you speak to an independent mortgage adviser. They will be able to carry out a full 'factfind' either over the phone or more preferably in person and then be able to recommend a course of action for you. This would give you access to the whole mortgage market rather than if you went to your local bank who will only advise you on what they can offer.
