I have separated from my husband and wish to transfer the title into my name. he is willing to do this. I only work two days a week and probably in the first place would not be allowed to lend £130,000 if I was buying a new house, 130,000 being the current mortgage. I can clearly afford the payments, have a good credit rating, will the bank grant this to me?? I have banked with them (my mortgage lender) for 21 years and never got into any trouble with my mortgage and I am not borrowing any more on this. Will they consider ????
Without knowing the exact figures it's not really possible to say if your lender will allow you to take the mortgage on in your sole name. As well as your earned income, they can also take into account any maintenance payments that your ex husband will be paying as long as they are court / csa ordered, which may make a difference.
