Teachers and College Lecturers

Posted on 6 February 2011 by Holly

Do you think it will be possible for us to get a mortgage in our circumstances? My partner is a supply teacher and I am a college lecturer working on an hourly paid basis. We have both been employed constantly for the last two or three years but in a number of different jobs. We have quite a large deposit.

I pleased to say that because of your continuous employment record it should be possible to find a mortgage for you. Whilst Lenders have tightened up their vetting procedures there is still an understanding that many teachers and college lecturers work on short term contracts and this is less of an obstacle that it might otherwise be. The fact that you have a large deposit will also stand in your favour.

I believe you would benefit from speaking to one of our independent mortgage advisers. If you call on 0344 346 3672 and tell the adviser the date of your question, they will be able to look at your situation and take it from there.
