Is it possible for a British Citizen to take out a mortgage on an Irish property?

Is it possible in the current market for a Brit to take out a mortgage on an Irish property? We would have 50% deposit (minimum). We live and work in the UK but have sold our house here and have cash in the bank. The irish property would be a holiday home.

It is possible, though not overly easy, to get a mortgage on properties in the Republic of Ireland, and the low loan to value at 50% will ceratinly help.
