Discharged Bankrupt

Posted on 6 March 2011 by Liane

I am discharged bankrupt (2 years this month) and want to buy a property for £65,000. My salary is £50,000 per annum.

What is the chance of me getting a mortgage?

It is not impossible to get a mortgage with a discharged bankruptcy on your credit file, but it does narrow down your choice of Lenders. Depending on the rest of your personal circumstances such as current employment, the amount of deposit you can put down and the property you wish to buy there are Lenders who will consider you for a mortgage after just 12 months, needless to say you don't have a lot of choice of rate or product type.

I believe you would benefit from speaking to one of our independent mortgage advisers. Please call on 0344 346 3672 and tell the consultant the date and title of your question. They will be able to look at your situation and advise you accordingly.
