Can we remortgage?

Posted on 19 August 2011 by TRACEY

Hi, Looking to remortgage next year however both are salaries have been reduced. We both earn £12K per annum. With tax credit and benefit my income is £21078. House worth 290,000, owe 185,000. Will we be able to remortgage, if so what deals at the moment?

Looking at the figures you have provided I think it is very unlikely that you will be able to remortgage to another Lender.  You should approach you existing Lender around 2 - 3 months before your existing mortgage deal runs out and ask them what loyalty products they have available.  There is no harm in saying that you will be looking to move your mortgage as this sometimes encourages them to produce a better offer.
