Hi I bought a house 4 years ago and I was living with my husband, but after 2 years we got separated and have been apart for more then 2 years now. I sold my house when we separated. I was the sole owner of my house, and he never paid anything towards my mortgage, but my question is can my partner get share of my house even though it's now sold ? And my second question is if I buy a new house know can my partner get share from my new property thanks!
It is possible that your husband may have been able to claim to a portion of the equity of your original property, if he had been contributing to the upkeep, and household, during your marriage. As you have now been apart for more than 2 years and he's not made any claim, it is unlikely that he would be able to do so now. Also if you buy another property, it would be highly unlikely for him to be able to make a sucessful claim.
I would recommend that you speak to a solicitor though to get a definitive answer.
