Rob Gurr

Rob has worked in the mortgage industry for over 10 years, both from a specialist lender side and more recently as a mortgage broker focusing mainly on buy-to-let investments and portfolios for his clients.

Rob recently joined John Charcol at the start of 2023 after having held a role previously as Head of Buy-to-Let at a specialist broker looking after portfolio landlords, HNW clients, expats, holiday lets, first-time buyers and small landlords looking to grow their portfolios.

He also has extensive experience in helping people find the right mortgage for their residential home and those who need to repair their credit.

Rob provides a holistic approach to ensure clients get the right deal first time and provides complete transparency throughout the entire process which ensures his clients return time and time again.

Rob will help navigate you through the mortgage process from start to finish.

Rob – with his admin support at John Charcol – will give you a first-class service, ensuring you secure the mortgage deal best suited to your individual needs and requirements.

Discovery and research

Rob will arrange a phone/teams appointment meeting at a time that suits you – after all, when you pay for service, you should expect it at a time that is convenient to your needs. This is where he will collect all the necessary information to find a deal that meets all of your requirements.

Pre-application

Following on from you selecting the deal, Rob will arrange for all documents to be collected and will submit your application to the lender.

Process and implementation

This is where the lender will underwrite your application, verifying all of your information – this will result in you receiving your new mortgage offer and ultimately allowing you to exchange and complete.

Rob has an admin team that will contact and update you every 24 hours during this part of the process. They will ensure that the underwriters are addressing your case and are not swamped with others, the surveyor has done the survey and submitted the report within 48 hours – if not they will chase them down – and finally once the offer is out, Rob’s team will chase the solicitors to make sure you’re never forgotten about.

1. First Charge - I understand that a first charge mortgage could be a more cost-effective alternative to a second charge and have considered this before proceeding.

2. Existing Mortgage Product - I am currently tied into a mortgage product with an early repayment charge if I choose to leave this deal early and I have investigated the possibility of a further advance from my existing lender.
