I am looking to get a mortgage to buy my first home but have never had a credit card. Will this affect me?
Not necessarily, as there are other conditions which contribute to your overall credit profile. If you are on the electoral roll at your current address, you have a current account and you have not moved around too much in the last three years, as well as having no missed payments, defaults, county court judgements, etc on your record then it may not be a problem.
Even if your credit score is not very strong we have access to a whole range of lenders who can take a more bespoke approach, instead of just "computer says no".
We would need to take a closer look at your credit profile to help you - the best thing to do would be to contact one of our mortgage experts on 0844 346 3708 and talking it through with them.
