Buy To Let Mortgages on Inherited Properties

Posted on 16 October 2012 by Annette

We have just inherited a property with no outstanding mortgage on it. It was already let put to tenants. We would like to release some funds by way of a buy to let, but are having problems finding a lender as we haven't owned the property for 12 months. Please offer some help!

Whilst it's true that some lenders do have this rule, there are a number who will waive it for properties that have been inherited. There are also other lenders who only require 6 months onwership, and some that don't have any time limit.

Subject to meeting the lenders criteria, I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to raise funds on a Buy To Let basis. If you would like to discuss your enquiry in more detail, then please let me know and I'll arrange for one of our consultants to contact you.
