Who do you believe - Alistair Darling or Gordon Brown?

Alistair Darling, today in the House of Commons:
"Of course we are more likely to be more severely affected as a result [of the UK's dependence on the City and housing market]".
Gordon Brown on too many occasions to record here:
"We are better placed than other countries” [to withstand the recession].
