Before making an offer on an ex-local authority flat is there anyway we can find out what work is scheduled in the future?

A friend and I are looking to purchase an ex-local authority flat. We are aware that private owners in ex-local flats are liable for their share of repair bills to the whole block. Is there any way we can find out before making an offer what work the council may have scheduled on the block in the future?

You're right about the liability there, and you are wise to investigate. I would call the local council and ask them first, also, do a Google search on the name of the block and the road to see if any planning permission has been applied for for the next few years.

Katie.
