When it comes to insurance, most people are influenced by price. However, making a claim ultimately puts your policy to the test, and the importance of extensive cover becomes apparent.

We appreciate that claims are stressful, which is why our dedicated Claims Team concentrate on getting you back in the same position you were in before the loss, as quickly and competently as possible. Dealing with insurers, loss adjusters and, where necessary, third parties on your behalf, our Claims Team will always keep you up to date with the progress of your claim.

With a proficient knowledge of all the policies John Charcol Independent Insurance Brokers offer, we can advise you on any aspect of a claim. In some cases, where the policy is written under a delegated authority, we are able to settle claims on behalf of the insurer. This enables us to provide a quick and efficient service. If, however, at any point during the claims process you wish us to refer your claim to insurers for their consideration we will be happy to do so.

If you do need to make a claim, please contact us at the first opportunity, as insurers require full details of your claim within a reasonable time. Depending on the nature of your claim, insurers may also require other documents to support your loss.

In some instances, a Loss Adjuster may be assigned to your case for their expert skills in assessing certain types of claims. They may also be appointed, by your insurer, to assist with the claim if it exceeds certain financial limits. If a Loss Adjuster is going to be appointed, we will advise you and guide you through the process.


Terms & conditions

Your initial mortgage consultation is obligation free. There will be a minimum fee for our mortgage service of £450, of which £150 is payable when you apply, and we will retain the commission from the mortgage lender. Alternatively, you can choose the fee only option which is typically 0.65% of the amount borrowed. The precise amount will depend on your circumstances and mortgage loan amount, and will be discussed and agreed before you make a mortgage application.
